Make your USB read only while putting in other's machines.

Now a days most of the people might have an experience from virus attacks after giving their USB Pendrives to their friends or putting it in other's systems. My machine doesn't have any virus "I think so". Up to this point it is OK. But what about other's machines? To prevent your USB virus attacks from others system here is a tip for you.

Recently the most common viruses attacking USB drives are:
folder.exe
,.exe
thumb.dll
Scandle.exe

Preventing method is, after writing files or data into your Pendrive just make it as "Write Protect". If someone need the data they can "Copy" it and "Paste" in their machine. But they don't have chance to write again into it. Or the viruses in their system will not enter into your write protected USB Device.

You can do it by a small utility i.e "Thumbscrew".

Procedure:
1. Download thumbscrew.zip extract it.
Open thumbscrew folder Double click on the .exe file.

2. You can see a tray icon with USB logo.
3. Write file you need into the USB drive (i.e Pendrive).
4. Write click on the tray icon and click on "Make USB Read Only".

5. Then remove your USB drive safely.

That's it. Now your pen drive is Write Protected. No one can write again.
Virus will not attack your "USB Drive".
If some one wants to write in the drive an error message dialogue box will appear
like this,

To make it "Write" just put your "USB pendrive" to your machine right click on
the tray Icon and click "Make USB writable". That's it. Now your USB Pendrive
is read and write mode.

So Guys prevent your machine form virus attacks form "USB pendrives" data travelers by thumbscrew.

Irritated by XP themes? Then switch to Mac

Dear visitor,
In my last posts I explained how to change your windows default XP theme to Vista by VistaMizer. Still if you are irritated to use such XP or Vista themes try Macintosh theme in your machine. I just tried and it is working up to my expectations.

A theme called “Flyakite OSX” developed for you. This theme provides exactly the same UI (User Interface) what Mac OS provides. It provides the apple boot screen at startup and provides its logoff screen too. Very smooth interface provided and it makes you think like; working on Mac machine. FlyakiteOSX is associated or affiliated with Apple Computers to provide its theme. The above figure captured in my machine.
To view the exact theme look, just open the above image in new window.

What is FlyakiteOSX?
FlyakiteOSX is a transformation pack. It will transform the look of an ordinary Windows XP+ system to resemble the look of Mac OS X. The installer simply automates the process of replacing critical system files, setting registry tweaks, and installing extras such as cursors, sounds, visual styles, etc. FlyakiteOSX DOES NOT contain any spyware or ad-ware of any kind. All files needed for FlyakiteOSX are stored in the Windows directory in a folder named 'FlyakiteOSX' that is hidden by default. All registry values for FlyakiteOSX are written to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\FlyakiteOSX.

Feature provided by FlyakiteOSX transformation pack:

  • Object Dock – You can move around the desktop borders easily.

  • Search Spy -- Search bar to search for a file or folder like Google desktop search.

  • Y’Z Shadow – To place colorful shadows for windows and dialog boxes.

  • WinRoll -- A nice little utility that allows you to roll up a window so that just the title bar shows.

  • iColorFolder - allows you to change the color of any normal folder.

So dear visitor just download FlyaKiteOSX transformation pack and enjoy the User Interface of Mac without installing Mac OS.

Restore accidentally deleted from your computer by Recuva

Accidentally deleted data from your hard disk? No Problem dear...
Here is a solution to retrieve them by Recuva. By Recuva you can retrieve data even if you delete them by suing SHIFT+DELETE key. We generally think that by using SHIFT+DEL data may lost permanently. But it's wrong. But Recuva you can!

Recuva (pronounced "recover") is a freeware Windows utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted by bugs, crashes and viruses!

Recuva supports:
► FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, NTFS5 , NTFS + EFS file systems
► Restores files from removable media (SmartMedia, Secure Digital, MemoryStick, Digital cameras, Floppy disks, Jaz Disks, Sony Memory Sticks, Compact Flash cards, Smart Media Cards, Secure Digital Cards, etc.)
► Can be run from a USB thumb drive
► It's fast, tiny and takes seconds to run!

► Select drive
► Click on Scan
► Select files which you want to recover
► Click on Recover
► Save it.

Make sure that it is better to recover files as quick as possible when you accidentally deleted. Because newly updated data may over write on deleted data space. This results incorrect backup of your lost files.

Are you a human? Spam code

Have you ever ever think about the code like below ? LOL, every internet user may encountered this tricky logic of websites.

I think most of the websites while registering (Sign up) our account in their sites they asks us to enter some code as it shows a distorted image like above. For example in Yahoo, G-Mail while we are registering a new e-mail account it asks. Some websites asks like this "Are you a human?". Then we have to type a code in box below it. Till now I observed lot of websites and just left it. While registering my friend's account (Who is newbie to internet) in yahoo he aked "Why to type that code?". Then I started to think "Why?". Now I got that answer by searching on google.
That is here for you.

"Now a days computers and Internet have evolved to the point when software tools ( such as standalone programs or web scripts ) can perform automated task on the web, such as navigating from website to website ( spiders ) filling and submitting web forms.

This task was difficult many years ago, and people did not thought much about it back then. But now, with the increasing amount of SPAM and the advanced script languages, many hackers and spammers are writing and using scripts to automatically fill and submit forms."

The mistory behind of the code requires that the user have to type the letters of a distorted image, sometimes with the addition of an obscured sequence of letters or digits that appears on the screen. This usually ensures that only humans can enter the correct answer, because is difficult ( but not impossible! ) for machines to extract the letters and digits from the image. So finally what I concluded my self is that, to prevent spam websites uses that code.

Here is site to accomplish above task in your website http://www.captcha.net/. This provides free service to prevent spam in your websites. For more information go through it's home page.-

Delete files securely with File Shredder

With File Shredder you can remove files from your hard drive without fear they could be recovered. There are quite a few software tools today for retrieval of deleted files under Windows OS. Those tools, often referred to as "file recovery" software, are taking advantage of shortcoming of Windows "delete" command that we all use regularly to delete files.

Actually, the "delete" operation in Windows only removes bits of information from files so they appear deleted in OS. It is easy to retrieve those files using aforementioned specialized file recovery software.

In order to remove, or shred files permanently from your system you have to use a program that is capable of rewriting the files with random series of binary data multiple times. This process is often called shredding. That way, the actual content of the file has been overwritten and the possibilities to recover such a shredded file are mostly theoretical.

File Shredder has been developed as fast, safe and reliable tool to shred company files. I believe this utility should be available to anyone for free and that permanent and safe removal of confidential documents is a matter of basic right to privacy.

In File Shredder you can choose between 5 different shredding algorithms, each one gradually stronger than the previous one. It also has integrated Disk Wiper which uses shredding algorithm to wipe unused disk space. More on options of File Shredder check Online Help page.

New Feature "Scheduled Posting" in blogger

Blogger acquired a new feature to post your posts on a specific day when the day you specified. This is a great feature what I thought earlier. Because, if you have lot of new content to post in your blog, this idea works well to keep the track of visitors regularly. Suppose if you are writing a suspense thriller story posts in your blog per twice in a week. You can post the part of the story in a particular day. And remaining parts will be posted on the day you want to publish. Your visitors waits for the day of your post and they can view new post on correct regular intervals. This new feature of blogger can only be used if you log-in in draft page of blogger. So to experience the schedule posting and other soon to be added features in blogger you must log-in to http://draft.blogger.com instead of http://www.blogger.com.

To do this blow of the post editor you can see "Post Options". Click on it. Then in after a dropdown link you can see "Post date and time". There you need to specify the time of your post to be posted on a specified day.

Move your "My documents" Folder in safe place

"My documents" in windows is the very important folder. I think everybody know it.
It is default folder in windows. Most of the people don't know that we can change the default path of "My documents" folders to other drives. As we all know, My Documents is the most popular folder where computer users save almost all his or her data including but not limited to videos, musics, pictures and important documents.

Some times when we are saving any document it will directly shows the path to save in my documents folder. So using "My documents" folder is very popular.

Now a days virus attacks make our system to become crashes down. Some times windows my crash up due to boot failures. So in that cases we can't backup our data. So it is better to save "my doucments" folder in other drive rather than windows installed drive.

To do this fallow these steps

In general "My documents" folder is placed in C: drive i.e windows default installation drive.

"Just right click the My Documents shortcut on desktop and click on the "Move" button and choose the location where you want to transfer your My Documents folder and then click OK."

Now your data will be secure when your system crashes.

With VistaMizer you can keep your Windows XP operating system while enjoying a brand new, true Vista look. In addition to changing the whole desktop appearance, more than 300 files are replaced with new icons, pictures and videos. This means that VistaMizer does not provide its own files, but modifies those of your system which you select during the installation process.
In any case, VistaMizer is optimized to get over compatibility issues and therefore ensures that the system doesn't become unstable due to the changes. And if you're not satisfied by the results or simply want to go back to XP, you have the possibility to return to your old system by running VistaMizer's uninstallation feature. Take a look at what the program features:

  • Modifies your own system files
  • Free choice of the files you want to change
  • Multilingual support
  • Compatibility check during installation
  • Backup of the original system files
